President Mussington travels to storm affected Guadeloupe

GUADELOUPE: President Louis Mussington went to Guadeloupe, this Wednesday, October 5, in the communes of Sainte Rose and Capesterre-Belle-Eau, both affected by the tropical storm Fiona, last September 17.

With this initiative, the president wished to bring the support of Saint-Martin to the Guadeloupean disaster victims, themselves very present alongside the Saint-Martinois, after the passage of Hurricane Irma in 2017.

This solidarity materialized in a donation of 20 pallets of water and 2 pallets of school supplies, a symbolic choice for President Mussington, as water and education are so essential.

During his speech, the President of Saint-Martin stressed the importance of solidarity between Caribbean territories in the face of natural disasters. A gesture appreciated by the mayor of Ste Rose, Adrien Baron and the mayor of Capesterre Jean-Philippe Courtois.

President Louis MUSSINGTON also took advantage of this trip to Guadeloupe, to visit the President of the University of the West Indies-Guyana, Mr. Michel Geoffroy, in the context of the project to open a university branch on the territory of Saint-Martin.

The RSM-A mandate has been working on this file since its arrival in April 2022, and it is now a matter of drawing up specifications to plan the opening of the university branch in Saint-Martin.

President Mussington expressed the wish that the UAG would soon be able to present the range of courses available.

This is an issue that is close to the heart of the President and his vice-president Dominique Louisy and that the Collectivity wants to bring to a successful conclusion for the next school year.
