Officials wish for a good start to the new school year

MARIGOT: On Thursday, September 1, the official start of the school year for many classes, saw several officials gathered at the Collège de Quartier d’Orléans to visit the construction site of the Collège 600 La Roche Gravée de Mohoproject, to meet with the press and, above all, to wish everyone a good start to the school year.

The President of the Collectivité Louis Mussington, the 2nd Vice President Bernadette Davis, also President of the Delegation Cadre de Vie, Dominique Louisy, 3rd Vice President in charge of education, Vincent Berton, the Delegate Prefect of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin, and Harry Christophe, the new Vice-Rector of the Northern Islands, gathered at the Collège de Quartier d’Orléans where they invited the press to wish all the students and teachers a good start to the new school year. Mr. Vincent Berton was keen to honor this back-to-school event, as it was his first time in Saint-Martin since he took office as Deputy Prefect 6 months ago. “I wanted to be present with the students and teachers,” he said.

Louis Mussington, for his part, praised the teaching staff, including the principal of the school, Leela Hanson. Aware of the inconvenience that a construction site of such magnitude as the one at Collège 600 can cause, the president recalled that these arrangements were made in the interest of the students and faculty. The officials did not choose the Quartier d’Orléans college by chance to wish the population a good start to the school year.

The construction of the 600th secondary school will ensure better learning and educational conditions for the future of the students and the next generations. Harry Christophe, the new representative of the rectorate, expressed his joy at being present, thanking the warm welcome he received and his eagerness to work collectively with those present to examine priorities and make the educational service of Saint Martin more efficient.
