The patronal feast was beautiful in Gustavia

ST. BARTHS: Every year, the port of Gustavia organizes regattas, a public ball, and various games and competitions on the dock of du Général-de-Gaulle to commemorate the island’s patron saint. Several officials from Saint-Martin participated in the festivities organized at the Hôtel de la Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy.

On August 24, 2022, on the occasion of Saint Bartholomew’s Day, Prefect Vincent Berton wa saccompanied by Mrs. Anna Cohen at the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the Collectivity’s Monument aux Morts. On behalf of the Minister of the Interior and Overseas Territories, the Prefect awarded her the Medal of Honor for her management of the health crisis in the territory.

Michel Petit, the 4th vice-president, represented the Collectivité de Saint-Martin alongside the Prefect, Xavier Lédée, president of the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy accompanied by territorial elected officials, the former president Bruno Madras and the deputy for Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, Frantz Gumbs. Guy Losbar, President of the Departmental Council of Guadeloupe was also present to confirm the bonds of friendship between the communities, to discuss issues of cultural and economic cooperation and also on the issue of institutional development. The official celebrations of the patronal feast then gave way to the traditional activities organized by the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy. This day of celebration also allowed visitors to discover the rich local heritage.
