Dangers of the road made aware to students

QUARTIER ORLEANS: The association Sécurité Routière SXM on March 10th and 11th brought awareness, in order to sensitize and train about safety of the roads, to 130 young students of the college Roche Gravée de Moho within the framework of the city policy outlined by the Prefecture of Saint Barthélemy/Saint Martin and the Collectivité de Saint Martin, the PADSR Guadeloupe and the fund of development of the associative life.

Several dramatic road traffic accidents have recently impacted Saint Martin. The awareness and training of our youth in road safety is essential to limit dangerous behavior on the road. Thus, these 130 students, all residents of Quartier Orléans, have participated in several workshops with the sole objective of preventing them from one day being the victim or cause of a serious or fatal road traffic accident. Traffic rules related to two wheels, fight against addictions (drugs and alcohol), simulation on a two wheels simulator and finally a road course on a 50cm3 scooter. The association COBRACED, the driving school Help Conduite and the Protection judiciaire de la Jeunesse of St. Martin, present during these days, participated in the success of these interventions.

The association Sécurité Routière SXM also educated the 1200 pupils of the 08 elementary school of the island by providing training of the youngest to the first education in road safety within the framework of the City Policy in partnership with the National Education service.

The next two road safety days will be held in April 2022 in the Sandy-Ground and Concordia areas.
