The community is still looking for family assistants to take care of children at home

MARIGOT: As part of its child protection missions, the Saint-Martin community is looking for family assistants who can take care of minors at home, from birth to age 18.

This highly educational and rewarding profession involves the applicant and his or her family in a generous life project alongside a multidisciplinary team.

To become a Family Assistant, the following requirements must be met

– To present the necessary guarantees to welcome minors at home in conditions that ensure their physical, intellectual and emotional development,

– To have a dwelling whose condition, dimensions, access conditions and environment guarantee the well-being and safety of the minors hosted,

– Have a good command of spoken and written French.

– Be available to follow the family assistant training

Your file must consist of the following documents

– A completed application form

– An extract from the second criminal record of each adult living in the applicant’s home.

– A medical certificate stating that the candidate’s state of health allows him/her to take care of minors.

The application for approval must be sent to the President of the Territorial Council, Mr. Daniel Gibbs, by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt, or it can be deposited at the Approval Unit of the Solidarity and Family Delegation, at the Maison des Solidarité de Concordia, 10 rue Mont Carmel. The application is examined by the Maternal and Child Protection Service (PMI).

The instruction of the request for approval includes :

– Examination of the application file.

– One or more interviews with the candidate.

– Verification that the applicant has not been convicted of any criminal offenses incompatible with the practice of this profession.

The purpose of the interviews with the applicant and the visits to his or her home is to verify that he or she meets all the conditions.
