Update on funding and the State’s commitment to Saint Martin

SANDY GROUND/QUARTER D’ORLEANS: In the wake of the neighborhood meeting with residents in Sandy Ground and the one organized in Quartier d’Orléans on Thursday, November 25, Prefect Serge Gouteyron reminds us that since 2019 the following projects have been launched:

– The State is committed to the territory of Saint Martin to the tune of 91 million euros all funds combined, on a multi-year program that continues in 2022. Significant funds have been mobilized for the rehabilitation of drinking water and sanitation networks, the road network, the burial of the electrical and digital networks and the creation of waste disposal facilities, which are essential for the development and preservation of the island’s environment and the well-being of its inhabitants.

– 6.3 million in subsidies, notably for the creation of a socio-administrative building in Quartier d’Orléans, including a socio-cultural center and a space for youth, culture and art, activities (music, performing arts, well-being), events including exhibition and exchange spaces, and 750 m² of training rooms.

– The rehabilitation of the Concordia media library with a hurricane shelter on the 1st level and an auditorium as well as rooms with cultural themes on the 2ᵉ level, is initiated with the participation of the State up to 3 million euros and Europe with more than 1, 2 million euros.

– In the field of sports, the State has invested 10 Million Euros in sports infrastructure with, for example, the construction of a swimming training pool in Sandy-Ground but also a water sports base and a playground. The Albéric Richards and Telbert Carti stadiums will be renovated.

Bi-monthly update

Following the meeting with the residents of Sandy Ground on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, and the one organized last Friday with the neighborhood council, the elected officials and the residents of Quartier d’Orléans, the Prefect Serge Gouteyron is committed to providing an update every two months on the action of the State in the neighborhoods with the same format of proximity.
