SIMPSON BAY: Low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines has launched its non-stop flights to St. Maarten from Miami and Orlando, Florida, The air service offers weekly flights on Saturdays using an Airbus 320 with a seat capacity for 186. This venture serves as a part of Frontier’s growing network out of South Florida.
More than 300 passengers arrived on the inaugural flights on July 10 from Miami and Orlando.
The flights from Frontier bring additional economic benefit to St. Maarten, according to local tourism partners, according to Airport CEO, Brian Mingo.
Miami has become an increasingly important part of Princess Juliana International Airport hub network and as the airport hub continues to grow along with the number of destinations it serves regionally and internationally. “It made perfect sense for our team and tourism stakeholders to also establish a connection out of Orlando,” he added.
“With new gateways opening this gives an opportunity for destination St. Maarten to be able to
target new areas in Florida as well as other surrounding regions in the US,” stated Tourism Director May-Ling Chun.
International Sales Manager for Frontier Airlines, Alfredo Gonzalez stated, What Frontier Airlines tries to do is connect people from both directions who want to see their friends and relatives.”
