HARBOUR VIEW: Governor Eugene Holiday and wife Marie Louise Holiday recently had a private viewing of the St. Maarten-made movie “Atlantis: The Rebirth” created by artist and producer Jonathan van Arneman.
The Governor and Mrs. Holiday welcomed Van Arneman, Culture Department Head Clara Reyes and National Institute of Arts (NIA) Director Arlene Halley at his Cabinet in Harbour View to screen and discuss the film that premiered to a wider audience at Caribbean Cinemas on Emancipation Day, July 1. The group discussed the creator’s inspiration for the film, the preparation, and challenges to realize the production.
Developing its theme, “Atlantis; The Rebirth” takes the viewer through several significant and defining historic events of the enslaved Africans and their descendants in the Caribbean.
Governor Holiday congratulated Van Arneman and the entire cast “for an impressive historic Caribbean documentary portrayed through dance and music.”
