Maho celebrates 50% vaccination of employees

MAHO VILLAGE: The Maho Group, Sint Maarten’s largest employer after government, recently celebrated reaching a significant mark in vaccination goals with its first largest staff party of the year. The event was held on June 22, 2021 in the largest convention center on the island— Maho Room, one of Sonesta Resorts’ 24,000 square-feet of eco-friendly meeting and conference facilities.

Following the announcement earlier this month that over 50% of its team members had received at least one vaccine dose against the COVID-19 virus with close to 70% registered to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech, the Group immediately wanted to award its team members in accomplishing this huge achievement.

“I’m so proud that we are continuously reaching our weekly goals and our team members are leading by example,” says Saro Spadaro, President and CEO of The Maho Group. “While focusing on reopening with new safety protocols, and ensuring our guests are comfortable and safe, our employees continue to encourage one another in getting vaccinated and dispelling misinformation. We are all on the path to reach island herd immunity.”

Out of concern for the health and safety of its staff and guests, the company also announced that its mandatory testing for non-vaccinated is free. “The Group is well on its way to achieve its goal to reach 65% vaccinated with at least one shot by June 30, 2021 (64% at press time).

After the great success of the first event, Maho decided to start planning another event for when the company will reach 80% of fully-vaccinated employees.
