POND ISLAND: Motorists on the Dutch side now have to pay more for both unleaded gasoline and diesel after the per-litre price increase of June 15. This increase comes a month after the last upping of the prices.
The price for gasoline from NAf. 2.14 to the new price of NAf. 2.17 per litre while the price of diesel fuel increased from the former price of NAf. 1.53 per litre to the new price of NAf. 1.56 per litre.
The Ministry of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) said in announcing the latest price increase that ongoing upward adjustments in the prices of crude oil on the international market as reason for the price increases for gasoline and diesel fuel.
The maximum price of fuel is regulated by the government via the TEATT Ministry. The constant changing of the fuel price on the Dutch side has the spin off effect that quite some motorists opt to head to the French side to fill their tanks for a lower price even if the exchange of the euros versus the US dollar has a significant gap.
