Ceremony in honor of the dead for France in Indochina

MARIGOT:  A ceremony in honor of the combatants and victims of the Indochina war took place on Tuesday, June 8th at the monument to the dead located in the gardens of the Hôtel de la Collectivité de SaintMartin.

A speech was given by the Secretary General of the Prefecture, Mikaël Doré, in the presence of the squadron leader, Stephan Basso, commander of the gendarmerie company of Saint Martin and Saint Barths, the vice-president of the Collectivité, Yawo Nyuiadzi, the Territorial Police and members of the Saint-Martin veterans’ association.

Established by Decree No. 2005-547 of May 26, 2005, this day of tribute corresponds to the day the remains of the Unknown Soldier of Indochina were transferred to the national necropolis of Notre-Dame de Lorette on June 8, 1980.
