HOPE ESTATE: Last week, La Réserve Naturelle de Saint-Martin hosted in its premises an initial professional training on the management of Invasive Alien Species.
Part of the French Office of Biodiversity (OFB) training catalog, this event was led by the French Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and its Invasive Alien Species Resource Center.
The introduction of non-native animal or plant species is the first cause of erosion of our natural heritage. Common iguana, green monkeys, lion fish, coral liana, sansevieria, achatine, rat… were discussed at length during the three days of training in the presence of 11 stakeholders coming from Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint Barthélemy and Saint Martin.
