The UK no Covid deaths, a first since July 2020

LONDON:  This is good news for the UK in an epidemiological context that has recently darkened by the prospect of a possible “third wave” of coronavirus linked to the Delta variant, formerly called the Indian variant before being renamed Monday by WHO. The British health services did not identify this Tuesday, June 1, any additional death from the coronavirus in 24 hours, a first since July 30, 2020.

Check-ups at the start of the week are often unusually low after the weekend due to delays in registering cases (Monday was a public holiday). This decrease in the number of deaths is nevertheless symbolic and good news for the most bereaved country in Europe, with almost 128,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
