CUL DE SAC: DéSjaniah Lake of the Methodist Agogic Centre JAG is the winner of the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset’s Butterfly Story writing contest. The winner will have her story published in the 2021 Butterfly Story Book with winners from other Caribbean countries.
The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset received 18 stories, three of which will be submitted to the Rotary E-Club of the Caribbean’s District 7020 to this year’s Butterfly Story book.
“John the Mongoose” by DéSjaniah Lake, “The Little Dreaming Caterpillar” by Stella Palmer and “Catching Butterflies”, by Sahana Rinker (both from Montessori School) emerged as the three best stories.
The Butterfly Story Book writing contest challenged creative young writers (age 7-11) to tell their stories. The students were asked to write a story reflecting acts of kindness, friendship, leadership and/or respect.
All participants were invited to Emilio Wilson Park for a celebration. There, Lake received a cash prize of US $50 and a JBL speaker.
