One-jab Johnson & Johnson to replace Pfizer July 12

BELAIR: St. Maarten will end its mass vaccination with the Pfizer vaccine at the Belair Community Center, Collective Prevention Service, and pop-up clinics after July 31.  The one jab Janssen vaccine of Johnson & Johnson will be introduced starting on Monday, July 12.

The final first Pfizer doses will be administered on Friday, July 9, with the second dose given three weeks later.

After July 31, vaccination will still be possible, but it won’t be as easy as it is now. With the end of mass vaccination, anyone wanting the jab will need an appointment and have to wait for five other recipients to finish the vial.

The Pfizer vaccine was supplied by the Netherlands free to St. Maarten residents. The new vaccine will also be free, but with a charge for administering the vaccine. That charge is not covered by SZV or any health insurance and must be paid by the person requesting the vaccine.

The Belair Community Center and CPS vaccination sites are open weekdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm/  Extended opening is at Belair on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8:00pm.
