MARIGOT: With 115 new COVID-12 cases in one week, the Préfet Délégué of Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin Serge Gouteyron has ordered bars and restaurants to close at 11:00pm nightly. The order went into effect on Tuesday night and will indefinitely continue.
Prior to this new closure time, bars and restaurants were allowed to open up to midnight.
The deterioration in the COVID-19 situation on both sides of the island also fueled the change of closure time. This decision harmonises the measures with that of the Dutch side which took the same measures on Sunday.
Six persons are being treated for the virus in the Louis-Constant Fleming Hospital, including a 77-year-old patient placed on a ventilator. Two of the six patients in hospital are relatively young; a woman (27) and a man (39).
