CAY HILL: The Fire Department has issued a fire advisory due to the severe dry weather conditions in the country.
Residents and motorists are urged by the Department not to throw out lit cigarettes or matches that could cause bushfires in very dry fire-prone areas. Fires can get out of control by spreading rapidly due to high winds.
Anyone wanting to burn bush or garbage in a built-up area or on a hillside for agricultural activities should refrain from doing so and contact the Fire Department for advice. The inappropriate use of fire can endanger lives, property, and the environment in these dry weather conditions.
For advice on fire safety, call the Fire Department on 542-1215, 542-1217, and 542-6001 or in case of an emergency, dial 919 for immediate assistance.
