POINTE BLANCHE: A wide range of books is needed for the Pointe Blanche Prison library. This has led Justice Minister Anna Richardson to host a two-week-long book drive to help fill the shelves and give inmates options for literature and self-help ideas. The book drive will end on June 1.
Prior to the book drive, a survey was conducted to gain insight into inmates’ preferences; results showed a wide interest of genres. The genres of interest include history, science, technology, research, self-help, poetry, thrillers, and comedy.
The community can support the prison library book drive by donating at least one book from their collections. Used books in good condition or new books are welcomed for the library. The University of St. Martin is the book drive dropped off point.
