PHILIPSBURG: St. Maarten National Heritage Foundation and Museum will host a week of activities to mark International Museum Day 2021. This day is celebrated annually via the International Council of Museums. This year’s theme is “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”.
The “Recover Baking” activity invites baking enthusiasts to join in a tart baking workshop today, Wednesday, May 19, at Sundial School at 3:00pm. Pre-registration is required via the museum’s Facebook page. Fee is US $20 or NAF 36 per person.
The next activity, open to the public, is a “nailboarding workshop” on Thursday, May 20, at 11:00am at the Museum in Speetjens Alley, Front Street.
A crochet workshop will be held on Friday, May 21, at 11:00am at the museum.
Join “Sit down with Melee” – a question and answer session discussing storytelling as a means of historical preservation and launching of the museum’s new website on Friday, May 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the museum.
A presentation on historical landmarks will be made by Jean- Marc Augusty on Saturday, May 22, at 11:00am, followed by a book talk with author Naromie Pierre at 12:00pm. Both events at the Museum
