NEBRASKA: Two Southeast Community College men’s basketball players are being recognized for their impressive seasons in Beatrice, Nebraska, and one of them hails from St. Maarten.
Sophomore guard Kofi Hamilton was named to the NJCAA Dll First-Team All-America list on Wednesday. Sophomore forward Michael Wardy garnered second-team honors.
Hamilton, from Phillipsburg, St. Maarten, led the Storm in scoring at 15.7 points per game. The guard also finished second on the team with eight rebounds per game and second in field goal shooting at 59 per cent.
Wardy, a Norris High School graduate, averaged 14.1 points per game. He paced the team by shooting 60% from the field was third on the squad with 5.5 rebounds per game.
SCC won the region and district championships in order to qualify for the national tournament. The Storm went 1-2 with a win over Johnson County Community College at nationals.
Neither player has committed to a school for next season.
The All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Committee.
