REWARD: The Interact Club of St. Dominic High School has pitched in to gather much needed items for the people of the volcano-affected St. Vincent.
The high schoolers held two activities this week to help reach their goal: a collection of monetary donations over two days at their school’s main gate, and getting food and other items from a posting outside Carrefour supermarket on Bush Road.
The items collection saw donations of canned foods, powdered milk, a case of water and clothing. The monetary drive netted the students just under US $100. The funds will be used to purchase more non-perishable items for the people of St. Vincent.
St. Dominic Primary School is also conducting its own relief drive for St. Vincent. The two campuses intend to pool their collections together for shipment to the volcano-ravaged island.
Interact clubs around the world bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills.
