Repairs started on basketball courts

The much-needed repairs to district basketball courts commenced last weekend with the courts outside Leonard Conner Primary School in Cay Bay and Sister Regina Primary School in Simpson bay.

The youngsters in the neighborhood were happy with the repairs and immediately started to play when the repairs were completed.

The National Sports Institute, a part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports (ECYS), said repairs to be executed include new rims, backboards, posts, and fencing. The basket materials were selected to ensure longevity and easy removal before any disaster.

Similar repairs will be executed in St. Peters, Dutch Quarter, Belvedere, and at the Melford Hazel Sports Complex and the Jose Lake/John Cooper Ballpark.

“We look forward to seeing the repaired courts serve as a vehicle for establishing social cohesion within the community and stimulation of participation in sport and physical activities,” said ECYS Minister Rodolphe Samuel. The Sports Department is “excited” about the repairs.
