The hunt for local organic and home grown fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, and eggs drew a sizable crowd to the recent Farmers Market at Country Club Port de Plaisance.
Island residents with green thumbs and bountiful harvests took their produce to market and saw these quickly snapped up by eager shoppers. Organic eggs quickly disappeared into shop bags as did that fruits and leafy greens.
Freshly caught snapper brought a fisherman for the first time to the market. He went out fishing and was encouraged by a cousin to bring his catch to market for the first time ever. He was enthusiastic about the response from market goers. His added value was the fisherman gutted the fish for buyers.
Homeopathic health products were also offered. One seller had a line of products made from the moringa plants ranging from teas to seasonings.
This market is expected to continue in the coming weekends, look out for the dates via Port de Plaisance.
