Belair sees increased bookings from US

BELAIR: All things remaining constant, Belair Beach Hotel will continue to see an increase in bookings from the US market for the summer months and high season. “As more and more people get vaccinated in our main market – the US, we have seen an increase of bookings,” said Hotel Director E. Evans. Belair has given its owners the option of accessing their unused 2020 weeks in 2021. “We’ve encouraged them to make up for time away from loved ones by bringing them to the island,” Evans shared. Unfortunately, the hotel has noted cancellations from travelers from the Canadian and European markets due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in those areas.

“Our Canadian and European owners make up a small percentage of our ownership, however we do miss them and wish they could travel when it is safe and permitted,” Evans said.

Overall, the importance of consistently marketing the island while constantly educating its people about the importance of customer service and a tourist friendly environment were stressed by the hotel representative.

“With most islands focusing on this while having their own unique brand, St Maarten cannot afford to drop the ball,” Evans said.
